Oh NPR... I'm truly addicted to your music section. I should stop copying all your posts on my blog and simply just make my blog, a link to NPR music. At this point it practically is. (Here people. http://www.npr.org/ ) Today you shared with me the goodness that is Jamie Lidell: And ?uestlove. Along with new music from Steve Martin. I love you NPR. On that note, let's discuss my love for Questo, the great drumbino. I can not say I found him on my own, a good friend and phenomenal musician shared his music with me and out of and attempt to keep up and be cool I gave it a listen. And they say the rest is history! Questlove is one of my favorite musicians, n ot only because he's extremely talented, but he's one of those rare people in the music business who has worked extremely hard and stayed extremely humble. I've been having fun looking over NPR's top lists of albums and songs this year. Some of them are great! Some of them made me angry. (Call Me Maybe? Really? That's good marketing, not music.) Some are a little kooky. And most I've never heard! Which I appreciate. Super fun. Some of my favorites: "Who" by David Byrne (from The Talking Heads) and St. Vincent (From awesome indie female guitaristness) I'm a big St. Vincent fan. She's always sort of haunting, constantly genius, and her videos never fail to creep me out but somehow keep me from looking away every single time. Matt Ulery, Album By a Little Light All of the songs I've listened to off of it so far have this juxtaposition about them of this whimsical chiming of marimba and piano and glockenspiel but all the while with an intense build to it too.
